Groupe PSA will adopt Android Automotive on future vehicles

With its Android Automotive OS, Google has been helping to offer a more powerful, modern infotainment system to car manufacturers. That system has only debuted on a few models to date, but it’s going to make an expansion in the next few years as Android Automotive is being adopted by Groupe PSA.

You may not have heard of Groupe PSA before, but you’ve likely heard of the brands under this company. The list includes several European car brands such as Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroen, Opel, and others. Groupe PSA is actually the second-largest car manufacturer in Europe.

In a brief announcement posted to LinkedIn, Groupe PSA confirms that it has inked a deal with Google to have Android Automotive powering its vehicles. This partnership won’t manifest in consumer vehicles immediately, but rather will start on 2023 models.

From 2023, Groupe PSA customers will have access to Android powered infotainment systems. New

Rebound in global light vehicle sales well under way – LMC

Aug 24 (Reuters) – Auto consultant LMC Automotive on Monday cut its estimate for a decline in full-year global light vehicle sales, citing a speedy recovery for the sector hit by the coronavirus crisis.

Global light vehicle sales are expected to fall about 16.7% to about 75 million units this year, improving from a prior estimate of a drop of about 19%, LMC said.

“Light vehicle sales were just over 90 million units in 2019, so the selling rate in July shows a market running at almost 97% of last year’s total,” LMC said. (

Since hitting a bottom in April, auto sales have seen a V-shaped recovery as economies reopen following easing of lockdowns, resulting in major automakers scrambling to ramp up production and boost weak inventories at dealerships.

China has been among the strongest markets to recover, the auto consultant said, with the United States seeing a tempered
