62-year-old dies in single vehicle crash in Whitewater Township

A single vehicle crash in Whitewater Township Thursday left a 62-year-old man dead, according to a release from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

Timothy Stephenson, of Whitewater Township, was operating a 2003 Toyota 4Runner traveling westbound on U.S. 50 at around 1:12 p.m. when the vehicle crossed the centerline of the road, the release states.

The vehicle then exited the left side of the roadway and traveled out of control across a grassy embankment, struck a tree and reentered the roadway before coming to rest.

The release states the Whitewater Township Fire Department responded and Stephenson was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 62.

Officers said Stephenson was utilizing a safety restraint at the time of the crash. It is unknown at this time if speed, alcohol and/or drugs contributed to the crash.

The incident remains under investigation, the release states. Any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit at 513-825-1500.
