Drunken driving, Windsor Way: On Sept. 6, police were dispatched to a one-car crash on Windsor Way.

An arriving officer located a red Chevy Trax, which struck a tree. The driver, who was still in the Trax, smelled like booze.

When asked if he had been drinking, the man slurred, “Oh, yeah, a couple of drinks.” The man then attempted to explain the car crash to the officer.

He said the car he hit swerved into him. At that point, the office corrected the driver and told him he actually hit a tree.

The driver then looked up and admitted he indeed hit a tree. After failing a field sobriety test — during which he said, “You are going to arrest me anyways, you might as well do it” — the man was arrested for drunken driving.

The officer also found liquor in the man’s front pocket. He was charged with failure to control and open container.

Suspended license, I-77: On Sept. 8, police observed a red Hyundai Elantra traveling southbound on I-77.

Despite the fact the Hyundai has a valid sticker, the Elantra’s plates came back as expired.

While talking to the driver, the officer noticed the Hyundai had bullet holes in the windshield. The driver presented an ID, but not driver’s license.

Also, the ID had a picture similar to the driver, but the listed height was off. After being handcuffed, the man admitted his real name.

It turned out he had a suspended license and two warrants. He was arrested and held for transport.

The driver was charged with falsification, driving with a suspended license and failure to reinstate.

Also, the passenger had an opened beer in the center console. She was cited for open container.
