Groupe PSA will adopt Android Automotive on future vehicles

With its Android Automotive OS, Google has been helping to offer a more powerful, modern infotainment system to car manufacturers. That system has only debuted on a few models to date, but it’s going to make an expansion in the next few years as Android Automotive is being adopted by Groupe PSA.

You may not have heard of Groupe PSA before, but you’ve likely heard of the brands under this company. The list includes several European car brands such as Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroen, Opel, and others. Groupe PSA is actually the second-largest car manufacturer in Europe.

Hydrogen Cars Fuel Cell Vehicles and Infrastructure

Some say hydrogen cars are the future, but in reality they are here now (just ask Hyundai and Toyota). When H2 cars become the status quo, the U. S. can lessen its dependence upon foreign oil, achieve lower prices at the fuel pumps and cut down on the greenhouse gases that produce global warming.

RECENT BLOG POSTS

The future of H2 cars is not a pipe dream, as there are already many hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCV’s) and H2ICE (hydrogen internal combustion engine) vehicles on the roads. California, Japan and the European Union (especially Germany) have many H2 cars being used as fleet vehicles now.

State Efforts To Promote Hybrid and Electric Vehicles

Forty-five states and the District of Columbia provide an incentive for certain hybrid and/or electric vehicles, either through a specific utility operating in the state or through state legislation. The incentives range from tax credits or rebates to fleet acquisition goals, exemptions from emissions testing or utility time-of-use rate reductions. The five gray colored states do not have any laws or policies in place that would specifically impact the buying of an electric vehicle or the building of electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). In addition, 20 states have enacted legislation to implement a special registration fee on alternatively fueled or electric vehicles. All fees are in addition to the standard registration fees.

Additional maps comparing specific state incentives are displayed at the bottom of the page.

Importing Vehicles into Australia

Do not import a vehicle into Australia before obtaining a vehicle import approval

The importation of a road vehicle (that is nonstandard or does not have an identification plate) without a vehicle import approval is prohibited under the Motor Vehicle Standards Act 1989. It is an offence with a maximum penalty of 120 penalty units (refer to the Crimes Act 1914 Section 4 for current penalty unit values).

The importation of vehicles to Australia is prohibited except in very specific circumstances. Most vehicles are imported by large manufacturers that invest substantially in research and development to ensure that every new vehicle meets minimum safety standards that maintain the safest possible environment for all road users and our community. Manufacturers wanting to import vehicles to Australia for supply must first obtain an identification plate approval. Information on this process is available from the Department’s Road Vehicle Certification Scheme website.
